BUS CONNECTS – IMPLICATIONS FOR BLACKROCK

The increase in orbital routes generated by the Bus Connects proposals will mean, amongst other things, more bus traffic up and down the narrow Bath Place to the Dart Station.   A submission is currently being worked on.
Bus Connects are having public consultation meetings about their revised plan for the bus network re-design.
These are taking place in:
The Royal Marine Hotel, Dún Laoghaire 14th Nov 11:30am – 5:30pm and  15th Nov 1:30pm – 7:30pm
The Royal Hotel & Merrill, Main St, Bray 18th Nov 11:30am – 5:30pm and 19th Nov 1:30pm – 7:30pm
The Maldron Hotel, Whitestown Way, Tallaght, 20th Nov 11:30am – 5:30pm and 21st Nov 1:30pm – 7:30pm
The Alex Hotel, 41-47 Fenian St, Dublin 2, 25th Nov 11:30am – 5:30pm and 26th Nov 1:30pm – 7:30pm

You can also make an online submission and find out more at https://busconnects.ie/initiatives/dublin-area-bus-network-redesign/

CHRISTMAS TREE – VILLAGE SQUARE

Now that Christmas is only 6 weeks’ away, it is time to start thinking of trees, lights and Christmas music.  The big switch on of the Christmas tree lights in the Village Square outside Centra will take place on Saturday 23 November 2019 at 5:30pm.  Refreshments provided.  To keep us all in the mood the Blackrock Ukulele Band will be there to play their hearts out!  Please come along to support and enjoy the occasion.

BUSINESS RATES TO GO UP BY 3.5%

The proposal to increase commerical rates for Dun Laoghaire for 2020 (supported by the Fianna Fail/ Labour/ Green/ Independence Alliance) was included in budget discussions at the DLRCoCo meeting on 6 November 2019 and a business rate increase of 3.5% was agreed on for 2020.

TWO NEW RESTAURANTS COMING!

Blackrock is to get two new restaurants in the near future adding to the increasing stock now available.  This is really good news.  Mina Wine Bar and Restaurant will open in the former O’Donoghue’s Pub and Volpe Nera will open alongside the Wishing Well Pub in Newtown Park.  We wish them both every success.

BIG BLACKROCK SURVEY

We are currently working with a company called iReach to find out what local residents and local business want for our Village. There will be a major canvassing of opinion and we plan to use the results to direct our activities into the foreseeable future.  Watch out for this survey!   Your opinion matters to us!
