Blackrock Connect Day

We in the Blackrock Business and Community Network are very conscious that connection with friends, family and colleagues is a very important part of well-being.  Sadly, for one reason or another, not everybody is lucky enough to easily achieve this connection.  Many are older people who have left the workplace and find themselves somewhat isolated.  We are delighted therefore to put on the first of what we hope will be a succession of connection days where people will be invited into Blackrock Village to reconnect and to enjoy some hospitality, pampering and friendship.  This first Connection Day will take place on Friday, 28 February 2020 and we extend a warm invitation to anybody who would like to come along.

Despite our best efforts, it has proved impossible to find person or persons to project manage this year’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations, including the Leprechaun Chase.  Consequently and with great regret, we have had to pull the plug for this year.
We are hopeful however that we will be in a position to restart the national holiday activities next year as it would be a great shame to abandon these events that bring so much to the local community.

Blackrock Gardai

Blackrock Gárdaí have asked that people call Blackrock station if they observe any suspicious activity in the area, as in the recent past there have been a number of burglaries, especially in the evening time.  The number to call is 01 666 5200

Separately, the Gárdaí are very keen to promote services that are available to the more mature persons in our community.  Where older persons are unable to make it to their local Gárda station to have forms signed – advice and/or stamping of documents will be provided at a person’s home.  Where minor household repairs are required, Southside Partnership in conjunction with Age Action Ireland provide a free Care and Repair Service in the DLR area.   See the details below for further information.
