BLACKROCK HOSPICE TO TEMPORARILY RELOCATE ITS SERVICES

Blackrock Hospice

Blackrock Hospice has asked us to inform the business and residential community in Blackrock and surrounding areas of its plans to temporarily relocate its services to allow for a major renovation of its Blackrock facility. The detail we received regarding the immediate plans is as follows:

“Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services is undertaking a €6.5 million major renovation of Blackrock Hospice, Sweetman’s Avenue, Blackrock. Blackrock Hospice will temporarily relocate its services during the extensive building works, which will commence in January 2022 and last for approximately nine months. This work is important to ensure Blackrock Hospice can meet the needs of the community now and for future generations.

We will be making significant improvements to the environment where we provide our care. Each of the patients’ en-suite bedrooms will be extended in size and fitted with essential medical equipment that supports our patients with dignity and comfort. The interior environment will provide a sense of calm, warmth and tranquility. Our beautiful garden and patio areas – much loved by all – will be developed and enhanced. Clinical and out-patient areas will be upgraded to create a more improved environment for patients and visitors.

Fundraising will fund 100% of the build costs. We have fundraised approximately €4.5 million (70%) to date and we urgently seek the support of the local and business community to reach our target in support of this extensive refurbishment project in the heart of the community.

It’s not practical to keep the Hospice open while work is underway so, from the 15 December 2021, Blackrock Hospice will relocate temporarily. Patients normally visited in their home by the Specialist Community Palliative Care team will not experience any changes in their care. Out-patient appointments will be provided for patients at our new base on the Merrion Road. Those coming to us as in-patients will be offered a bed in our Harold’s Cross or Wicklow Hospice sites depending on their preference and bed availability.

Blackrock Hospice will close to the public from Monday 20 December 2021 at 5pm and will reopen in late 2022.

Please continue to support us by phone 01 2064000, online at www.olh.ie or email fundraising@olh.ie if you would like further information on how you can support this wonderful project.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our new and improved facility in late 2022″.

The Blackrock Business Network is hugely appreciative of the support and service the Hospice supplies to the local community. We wish Blackrock Hospice well with the renovations and we look forward to welcoming them back to full operations later in 2022.
