Leprechauns to hit Blackrock again on
St Patrick’s Day!

The very successful Leprechaun Chase in Blackrock Park followed by music and craic in the Village will return to Blackrock this St Patrick’s Day! The Leprechauns temporarily retired during Covid but are looking forward to bringing fun and frolics to Blackrock on our national holiday. Book your ticket(s) here

AEDs in Blackrock Village - Update

An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It’s a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyse the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. Above is an up-to-date table showing where the AEDs in Blackrock Village are located. If anybody is aware of any other locations, please let us know so that we can amend our records.

Parking in Blackrock

Shoppers coming into Blackrock often worry that they won’t be able to find car parking spaces. However, there is more parking available than people sometimes realise. Both shopping centres have large amounts of parking spaces. In addition, there are almost always spaces available on the local side roads, where paid parking is usually allowed for up to three hours. From these side roads, you can be in Blackrock Village in less than 5 minutes.

There is extensive parking from the surface level, underground and upper level. There are also electric car charging facilities.

FREE Parking from 7pm – 9.30am

Parking €2 up to 3 hours

Thereafter €2.00 (per hour or part thereof)

Maximum Daily Rate €15.00

Disabled Parking Spaces are available in the car park

Blackrock Village Centre

The centre has above ground and underground car parking, including parent & child and disabled parking spaces. There is a car cleaning and valet service in the lower car park and electric vehicle car charging bays, as well as bike parking facilities.

FREE parking for all customers from 9am to 12noon daily!

Street Art Call for Walls!

Street Art Call for Walls is now live. DLRCoCo are looking for accessible walls in areas of commercial activity to be nominated. This is a callout for the public to suggest possible walls to be included in the programme for street art for 2023. The project has been broadened from a Dún Laoghaire-based initiative and now encompasses the entire county. The closing date is 15th March 2023.

Tina Reddin - New Principal at BFEI

The Blackrock Business Network welcomes Tina Reddin to the post of Principal at Blackrock Further Education Institute. Tina succeeds Tom Taylor who served in the position for a number of years and who was a great friend and supporter of the BBN.

Tina previously served as a College of Further Education Deputy Principal and as a Lecturer in Higher Education. She is passionate about the student experience where everybody feels respected, valued and is given the best in opportunity.

The BBN looks forward to a long and productive relationship with Tina where we can, together, positively influence the future direction of Blackrock and its citizens.

Blackrock Athletics’ Club

Donadea Forest Park was the setting for three half marathon races at the World Half Marathon Festival on Saturday 14 January 2023 in which the above athletes from Blackrock Athletics’ Club (BAC) took part.

Membership of BAC for 2023 is open. Please note there is a waitlist for ages 6 – 13.

Frascati Centre News

This year Frascati Centre is celebrating 40 Years in the heart of the community of Blackrock. They’ve opened the new Top-Level Car Park bringing the total number of parking spaces up to 600 and have maintained its affordable parking rate of €2 for 3 hours parking! Frascati Centre also provides electric car charging facilities.

Home Store + More are opening their new 22,000 square foot store in Frascati in early Spring. Their greatly anticipated arrival will further enhance the extensive offerings at Frascati and fulfil a much-needed demand in South Dublin for quality homewares, soft furnishings and indoor & outdoor furniture.

Frascati’s Health & Beauty offering is thriving with both F45 and Yogahub increasing their class schedules whilst Kay’s Kitchen in now also opening on Sunday from 10am – 4pm

Granada FC

Granada F.C. is looking forward to a year of continuing success in making a positive impact locally through its Community Business Partnership programme.

The programme helps Granada F.C. in its efforts to provide Football For All in the community, by partnering with local businesses who share its core values of Community, Sustainability and Inclusivity.

It allows for the club to expand team numbers among all levels and age groups, meaning more boys, girls and children with additional needs have access to a great sport and social outlet in the heart of Blackrock.

It helps fund enhanced and new facilities to cater for the club’s growing membership – with more than 400 girl players now involved at every level – the largest contingent of its kind in Dublin.
